Pet Travel to and from the UK: Pet Travel Scheme

The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) is the system that allows: pet dogs, cats and ferrets from certain countries and territories to enter the UK without quarantine as long as they meet the rules. People in the UK to take their dogs, cats and ferrets to other European Union (EU) and certain non-EU countries and territories, and return with them to the UK without the need for quarantine. The rules are to keep the UK free from rabies and certain other diseases. These rules will change on 1 January 2012 when the UK brings its procedures into line with the European Union. All other pets traveling to the UK from countries that do not qualify for the Pet Travel Scheme, must complete 6 months quarantine, and arrive in the UK with an import permit. (Please visit our Quarantine Facilities section for more information).

If your pet needs to use our quarantine facility, we will carry out all the necessary paperwork on your behalf.

All pets flying must travel as manifest cargo and not as accompanied baggage into the UK.

Owners whose pets fail to fully comply with the UK Pet Travel Scheme import regulations may complete the remaining period in our quarantine kennels; we are only 20min drive from Heathrow.

The UK Pet Passport is only relevant if your pet is flying to the UK from an approved country. It is not a requirement of the country you are going to.
