| Pet Travel to and from the UK: Pet Travel Scheme |
The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) is the system that allows pet animals from certain countries to enter the UK without quarantine providing they meet certain conditions. It also means that people in the UK can take their pets abroad to these countries and bring them back without the need for quarantine.
PETS was introduced with a pilot scheme for dogs and cats from western Europe on 28 February 2000. The scheme was extended to certain rabies-free islands on 31 January 2001.

All Other pets traveling to the UK from countries that do not qualify for the Pet Travel Scheme, must complete 6 months quarantine, and arrive in the UK with an import permit. (Please visit our Quarantine Facilities section for more information).
If your pet needs to use our quarantine facility, we will carry out all the necessary paperwork on your behalf.

All Pets flying must travel as manifest cargo and not as accompanied baggage into the UK.

Owners whose pets fail to fully comply with the UK Pet Travel Scheme import regulations may complete the remaining period in our quarantine kennels; we are only 20min drive from Heathrow.
The UK Pet Passport is only relevant if your pet is flying to the UK from an approved country. It is not a requirement of the country you are going to.
